WHAT IS SCRIP?
ANYONE CAN USE SCRIP. EVERYONE BENEFITS FROM SCRIP.
SCRIP is an exciting program that helps you earn money to apply toward your (or anyone else’s) tuition costs by simply shopping at the places you already go to.
Using SCRIP is very simple:
Spalding Catholic School buys gift cards at a discount.
Spalding then sells the gift cards to our families for full face value and our families redeem/use the cards for full face value.
You purchase gift cards for places where you plan to shop, and use those cards instead of cash or credit.
The discount (or rebate) is then split between the family’s tuition (90%) and Spalding (10% - to offset the cost of running the SCRIP program).
Many SCRIP users benefit from the gift cards becoming part of their budgeting process, allowing them to plan ahead for a majority of purchases.
Following is a scenario of how the program works and how it benefits you and your school:
Spalding buys $100 worth of SCRIP/gift cards from Pizza Ranch for $90, since Pizza Ranch gives us a 10% discount.
You buy $100 worth of SCRIP/gift certificates from Spalding for $100 and use the $100 worth of SCRIP as you would a gift card or gift certificate.
Spalding will split the 10% discount which equals $10. 90% ($9) will go into your (or whomever you choose) tuition account and 10% ($1) will go back to the school to help offset the SCRIP program fees.
SCRIP can be purchased by parents, grandparents, family and friends. The proceeds from their purchases can go to any family attending Spalding Catholic School for tuition assistance.
In the 2021/22 school year one family accrued $1,418 for their tuition!!
